The two most common reasons high performers come to get support from Performance in Mind are for help in handling their Performance Anxiety or because they are totally lacking motivation. If you are wondering whether you might be able to benefit in either of these areas we have set up two short quizzes, each with seven questions, based on how you feel about the next performance you have to give. If you score over 3 on these (they give an average score of 0-4) you will receive an email with some tools, techniques and advice on ways to handle your situation, so you feel more comfortable and confident.
Performance Anxiety
Performance Anxiety is when we feel overly nervous before we have to give some type of performance. That might be a sports competition, speech, exam, update in a work meeting or any kind of test. It often shows up when there is a chance that we could fail at something that matters to us or we feel that others might be judging us. It is something that happens to most of us at some point in our life when we have set a goal we really care about and we are really keen to do well. Try the Performance Anxiety quiz…
Lack of Motivation
Motivation can be thought of as the energy in our brain which determines how we behave. It directs the ways we think and feel when we consider a challenge. You need that brain energy to be in place to help you use the skills or strategies that are needed in order to be successful. When you are fully motivated you will put in lots of time and effort into practice and your performance, meaning you are more likely to do well, and enjoy the process along the way. When the motivation is lacking you will feel flat, bored and struggle to do the necessary actions that high performance requires. Try the Motivation quiz…
